Collections Specialist

Description We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for a Collections Specialist in Seattle, Washington. The role involves maintaining and processing customer credit applications, resolving customer credit inquiries, and taking necessary actions to collect delinquent payments. Responsibilities: Accurately apply all payments including lockbox, ACH, and live checks in a timely manner Perform collections on all outstanding accounts receivable balances Set up customers in the system Deliver quality, professional customer service to all internal and external customers Coordinate with the Accounts Receivable team to resolve customer payment issues Resolve customer discrepancies, short or overpayments on accounts Create, maintain, and update processes and procedure documentation Cross-train within the department to ensure continuous operation Process adjustments and refund check requests as needed Handle confidential information appropriately and respond to incoming inquiries. Applicants should be proficient in Microsoft Excel, billing functions, collection processes, and customer service. Requirements Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Experience with billing functions Understanding of collection processes Excellent customer service skills Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently and as part of a team Solid problem-solving abilities Knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to collections Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information responsibly Experience with negotiation and resolution of conflicts Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Willingness to stay updated with new techniques and technologies in the field High ethical standards and professionalism in all business interactions Proactive approach and the ability to take initiative.
