QUALITY ENGINEER

SUMMARY:

The Quality Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring product quality and compliance with regulatory standards. They collaborate with manufacturing and engineering to create and maintain Quality standards and processes. They will also provide quality assurance support at all levels, ensuring that products meet customer specifications.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Facilitates the creation and upkeep of departmental standards and processes.

Responsible for maintaining Standard Operating Procedure format and standards.

Responsible for the following:

Customer Quality-related requests on systems/processes

Customer Compliance-related requests

Customer Quality concerns and RMA’s

Supports Production team by providing analysis and expertise throughout the inspection process. Includes support of:

SOP QC interpretation

QC testing tools and processes

QC training

Work with department supervisors to ensure quality protocols are being followed and employees are properly trained in relevant quality standards.

Work with Engineering to ensure product quality is defined.

Identifies root causes of problems in the production process; recommends and/or implements corrective measures.

Ensures incoming product and materials meet defined quality standards.

Analyzes data to identify trends in product quality or defects with the goal of mitigating and preventing recurrence and future defects. Responsible for running recurring Quality reports (Ex. Scrap rate by %/$.)

Executes ISO 9001 Compliance or Certification. Supports a contracted provider if necessary.

Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.

Extensive knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s production processes.

Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to serve as a liaison between impacted departments.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or three years of related experience required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
