CM Design Group has developed a solid client base founded on our ability to provide accurate and complete PS&E documents for transportation, civil and site improvements, mainly for cities in the Puget Sound region. A civil design engineer will work with the project managers to deliver PS&E documents, taking a very active role in the design process, mainly working in AutoCAD Civil 3D. Typical project elements include site prep, grading, drainage, paving, erosion control, signing and striping plans. Typical design work may include roadway widenings and overlays, intersection improvements, ADA curb ramps, drainage profiles, details sheets and cost estimates. Flexibility to work on storm drainage and site design work is also a plus.
Responsibilities
Setting up project plans
Working in AutoCAD Civil 3D to develop detailed grading and profiles
Developing design plans for the types of improvements listed above
Tracking project development and coordinating with in-house staff
Writing project specifications
Preparing design memos
Developing detailed quantity take-offs for construction cost estimates
Requirements
Recent graduate up to six years of experience designing municipal or transportation projects; storm drainage systems with a focus on LID/GIS; and/or site civil projects.
Understanding of AutoCAD Civil 3D, and proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
Registered as an Engineer in Training (EIT) in Washington State
Self-motivated with good communication and time management skills.
Ability to work in a small office environment is important.
