Program Leader for a One-Week Arts Camp

We seek to hire the director of a team of a dozen artist/educators who provide the educational content for Caz Northwest (www.caznw.org), an all-ages arts and creativity event, from July 6-12, 2025. The Camp Director collaborates with an Operations Director who oversees the non-programmatic aspects of camp.

Estimated Time Commitment: 10-15 hours/month (remote) from October-June. Full-time, on-site commitment required for the two weeks from June 30-July 12, 2024. During the first of those weeks, the new camp director will assist and learn from the incumbent director.

Responsibilities:

Recruit the camp’s teaching staff, with assistance from Caz Northwest’s other leaders

Supervise teaching and support staff during the week of camp.

Choose and schedule classes and activities for camp, working with teachers to refine class descriptions.

Collaborate with teachers to determine what class materials, equipment, and space each teacher needs.

Emcee several large-group events during the week of camp and make announcements daily.

Ensure sufficient staff are assigned to support evening and other non-class activities.

Determine or delegate show order for staff show, variety show, and final class performances.

Observe in-session classes to understand teacher needs and evaluate teaching quality.

Ensure appropriate placement, handling and use of equipment and materials during and after camp.

Monitor and address potential safety issues

The successful candidate will have previous experience:

Recruiting and leading a group of artist/educators

Working in a camp or camp-like setting

Designing arts programming
