Pierce County Career Connections Director

Reporting to the Director of P-12 Partnerships and working with the Pierce County Career Connection (PC3) Board, the Pierce County Careers Connection (PC3) Director's focus is to maximize the connection between learning and work by fostering relationships to achieve valuable career and learning experiences for the current and future workplace. The PC3 Director establishes and maintains relationships between community and technical colleges, 14+ school districts with 40+ high schools and skills centers, community partners, students, and parents to maximize opportunities for all students to acquire the competencies necessary for earning college credit through high school Career and Technical Education (CTE) and dual credit course.

This position works closely with the Pierce County Careers Connection Board and its stakeholders to set priorities and manage various projects, including personnel management, articulation updates, compliance, marketing/website, budgeting, program data management, and reporting. The Director will also provide connections with employers and facilitate opportunities for career exploration and participation in work-based learning. This position is currently housed at Clover Park Technical College and requires regular and consistent attendance but is approved for some remote work.

The Pierce County Career Connection Director will be responsible for the following but not limited to:

Leadership and Administrative Functions

Establish goals and priorities and provide administrative leadership for Pierce County Careers Connection and its stakeholders.

Facilitate implementation of prioritized projects with PC3 Board, PC3 staff, and K-12 stakeholders.

Establish and maintain relationships with new and existing college staff in Pierce County regarding CTE programs of study and Perkins Comprehensive Local Needs assessments.

Establish and maintain relationships with new and existing K-12 Washington Association of Career and Technical Administrators (WACTA) in Pierce County and other districts that are stakeholders in PC3.

Produce reports and regularly update the PC3 Board and stakeholders regarding consortium operations. Coordinate annual reporting and supervise staff regarding budget, data tracking, technology, and marketing responsibilities.

Coordinate with stakeholders regarding budget. Seek funding through the State Board of Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC), Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), and related funders to enhance services as applicable.

Meet quarterly with the PC3 Board and stakeholders to provide status updates on prioritized projects, including articulation agreements and process improvements.

Represent PC3 at statewide Tech Prep Consortia and the State Board Community Technical College meetings.

Work with PC3 and Pierce College K-12 team to manage and grow dual credit opportunities for students. Expand this work with other participating colleges and partnering school districts.

Explore the integration of career exploration through job shadowing and work-based learning as part of the PC3.

Actively support and engage in Pierce College's equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts to provide access, support, and success for a diverse community of learners.

Evaluate, assign work, and act on leave requests for the classified staff member assigned to work with this position.

Program Management

Supervise and manage dual credit articulation agreement processes, including developing new articulations and reviewing and updating existing ones. Monitor for changes and accuracy.

Collaborate with WACTA and K-12 district CTE-related personnel on setting and tracking goals and priorities.

Organize and chair articulation meetings as needed. Work closely with K-12 and college stakeholders to identify gaps and address areas of opportunity.

Meet with college faculty to ensure proper revision of articulations. Investigate and implement appropriate technology and communication tools.

Manage the website and general PC3 marketing to ensure the accuracy of articulations and pathway maps and make changes. Work with the webmaster and staff on assessing and improving materials and resources.

Serve as point of contact for coordinating and planning P-12 outreach events. Work with WACTA and colleges on open houses, FAFSA nights, Pathways events, etc. Set and manage the annual calendar.

Plan and coordinate PC3-specific events. Track and provide data to measure effectiveness.

Communication

Serve as a resource for Pierce County WACTA regarding the status of CTE coordinated efforts, articulation agreements, and other projects.

Communicate to all pertinent parties regarding PC3 priorities and projects, including new technology, website improvements, new and updated articulations, and any related legislation or funding.

Provide content and monitor updates of the PC3 website. Analyze website effectiveness.

Support new member applications to the consortium as appropriate. Work with staff on budget and membership data.

Coordinate communication and outreach to all PC3 stakeholders to increase visibility regarding CTE and improve student access.

Monitor programs of study and acquire signatures as needed. Investigate, move to, and monitor electronic signature processes.

Education Required

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Project Management, Business, or Education.

Experience Required

Three years of management experience, customer relations experience, and program coordination with multiple stakeholders.

Familiarity with High School and Early College Pathways, dual credit, and Guided Pathways.

Ability to effectively and appropriately deal with/adapt to change using a constructive, positive approach. Adept at demonstrating openness to new organizational structures, procedures, policies, and technology.

Terms of Employment

This is a full-time administrative-exempt position funded by Pierce County Careers Connection. This position is currently housed at Clover Park Technical College and is approved for some remote work. Frequent travel to other college campuses or other sites may occur. Standard work hours are between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend hours required.

Salary & Benefits

The salary range for this position is $72,088.00 to $101,819.00 annually. New hires typically start at $85,724.00. Your paycheck is just part of the total compensation package. There is an outstanding benefits package worth an additional value equivalent to about 30% of your salary. Physical Work Environment

This position works indoors in an office environment, which requires visual concentration on detail, dexterity, and precision and is subject to frequent noise and interruptions.
