The Learning Tree lead teachers are responsible for contributing to a team-oriented, warm and nurturing environment where independence is encouraged and individuality respected. Learning Tree is a progressive, established Montessori school that offers year-round care to children 2 ½ to 6 years of age. Responsibilities: To the program/children–
To provide a warm, nurturing, team-oriented, safe and loving Montessori environment where independence is encouraged and individuality respected.
Being an active part of The Learning Tree Community
Works with a co-teacher in planning and implementing the details of the curriculum.
Helps develop and maintain a prepared environment, suitable for and responsive to the children's needs.
Observes, records and evaluates individual and group behavior and development.
Prepares group time or circle activities.
Plans and implements curriculum units (i.e weather, insects, planets).
Plans, supervises and assists on field trips.
Plans with all other teachers overall curriculum goals and individual goals for children.
Supervises, trains and helps to evaluate assistant faculty or faculty that are new to the program, when appropriate.
Maintains applicable records and files, including child progress reports, conference and lesson plans.
Keeps staff informed of program goals and developments with children, parents/caregivers and administration.
Attends all faculty and parent/caregiver meetings.
Establishes a warm relationship with all the parents/caregivers
Confers daily with co-teachers, assistant teachers and Director regarding children, curriculum etc. Keeps a classroom teaching team agenda
Works with all faculty to build a harmonious, functioning work team through mindful communication and problem solving
Attends conferences, workshops or relevant classes to develop professionally.
Models a positive attitude.
Is punctual and reliable in attendance.
Qualifications
Montessori certification from a MACTE accredited training center required
College degree in an Early Childhood Education related field, preferred.
Prior childcare experience.
First Aid, CPR, blood borne pathogens training, negative TB test +COVIDand measles vaccination
Knowledge of current developments in the field of early childhood.
Ability to form positive, warm and open relationships with children and adults.
Demonstrates strong initiative and enthusiasm.
Demonstrates flexibility and ability to work under pressure.
Demonstrates reliability with evidence of a good health record.
Ability to supervise aides.
Ability to work harmoniously with all staff members. Must demonstrate willingness to compromise when deemed necessary by the Directors.

Base starting point DOE Salary position
12 Sick and Safe Pay days per year
Medical and Dental Insurance – Learning Tree pays 80% of premium
