Job Title: Library Assistant

Reports to: Dean of Literacy and Innovation

Start Date: August 2025

Pay Range: Hourly at $23.50/hr.

Your Role.

The Bear Creek School is currently seeking to add a member to our Library team! Library Assistants assist with the daily operations of the three school libraries. They desire to serve and interact with the school community, and are excited to learn about and provide access to a broad range of Preschool to 12th grade student, parent, and professional resources.

We are seeking an individual who will…

Open and close library

Run the circulation desk which involves checking books in and out, preparing classroom circulation reports, maintaining patron accounts, resolving overdue book issues, and fulfilling holds

Prepare print and non-print materials for circulation

Place orders with vendors for materials needed for the libraries

Perform clerical tasks

Shelve print material and “read” shelves to maintain collection accessibility

Supervise Accelerated Reader™ testing, troubleshoot testing issues, and use Renaissance Place™ website to maintain Accelerated Reader™ point board throughout the school year

Support Literacy Leads with library classes, assist with research projects involving the integration of information literacy skills (finding, accessing, and using information) and computer skills

Supervise students who are in the library during open hours, study hall, and office hours

Supervise students and provide some administrative support for tasks outside the library such as Lunchtab and study hall, as needed

Assist with the annual library inventory

Keep the libraries clean and orderly

The successful individual in this position will:

Execute things independently when needed and work cooperatively with a team regularly.

Required Experience and Education.

High school diploma required.

Currently held CPR/AED/First Aid Certification (with Epinephrine Auto Injector supplement included), or arrangements made to obtain certification within 90 days of employment start date.

You must meet the following physical requirements.

Able to shelve and organize books on low shelves.

Able to lift and carry 10 lbs. short distances.

Able to perform various cleaning and tidying duties.

Able to read from a computer monitor.

Fine motor skills necessary for typing and for processing and repairing books.
