Are you a nurturing, energetic individual who loves working with young children? Our part-time preschool is seeking an assistant teacher to join our warm and collaborative early childhood team, starting in September 2025. We offer a play-based program that values creativity, curiosity, and kindness.
Our preschool follows the Lake Washington School District academic calendar, and paid months are from September to June.
Responsibilities:
Assist the lead teacher in teaching, supervising, directing, and mentoring children during preschool classes.
Help maintain the safety of the classroom.
Assist in managing classroom behavior through positive reinforcement and effective classroom management techniques.
Serve as lead teacher if lead teacher is absent.
Assist in preparing lessons, activities, and crafts in coordination with the Lead Teacher.
Assist in organizing the classroom and purchasing supplies (to be reimbursed) as needed.
Assist with set-up and clean up before and after the students are in session.
Participate in organizational meetings including monthly staff meetings.
Attend workshops and classes to keep abreast of current research and practices in Early Childhood Education.
Work with the director and fellow teachers to support all of the preschool’s programs and policies.
Attend preschool “social” events such as: Trunk or Treat, Christmas program, fundraiser evenings, preschool open houses
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years old.
Experience working with young children in a daycare or preschool setting is preferred, or volunteer experience with children e.g. elementary school classrooms, girl scouts etc.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and staff.
A genuine passion for early childhood education and child development.
Must have: High School Diploma.
Must pass background check by the Washington State Patrol.
