Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting optometrists in providing high-quality eye care services. You will play a crucial part in ensuring that patients receive comprehensive examinations and the best possible care. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, along with excellent customer service skills.
Responsibilities
Assist optometrists during patient examinations by preparing equipment and ensuring a clean and organized workspace.
Conduct preliminary tests such as visual acuity, color vision, and depth perception assessments.
Gather patient history and document relevant information in the electronic health record system.
Educate patients on proper contact lens care and eyewear options.
Manage front desk responsibilities including scheduling appointments, processing patient check-ins, and handling billing inquiries.
Maintain inventory of optical supplies and equipment, ensuring all items are stocked and available for use.
Collaborate with team members to create a welcoming environment for patients, addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
Familiarity with medical coding and retail math to assist in billing processes.
Experience working with pediatric patients is a plus.
Proficiency in using electronic health record systems such as Epic.
A solid understanding of optical terminology and procedures.
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to eye care.
Previous experience in front desk operations within a medical or retail environment is preferred.
