Farmers Market Sales for Seattle Farmers Markets (June-August)

Pay $21/hour + commission

Thursday- Queen Anne 2-8:30 PM

Saturday- Shoreline 9:30 AM-3:30 PM

Sunday- Ballard 7:45 AM-3 PM

Sam's Salmon is looking for friendly and outgoing sales associates to join our team for the 2024 Summer Farmers' Market season. You will be running our Farmers' Market booth 3 days per week. This post is just for the months of June-August, but continued employment past August is an option if desired.

Sam's Salmon is owned by Sam Mitchell, a fisherman in Bristol Bay. We sell premium sockeye salmon at Farmers' Markets in the Seattle area.

Location: Various Seattle farmers markets

Job starts from storage locker in Ballard and requires some driving. Drive time is paid. You will need your own vehicle; it should be a small SUV at the smallest as the equipment for the Farmers' Market must fit.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: Duties will include direct selling products in an open air environment, providing information and answering questions about wild Alaskan salmon, setting up and tearing down display table, cash handling and recording information. This is primarily a sales role- are you comfortable engaging potential customers and being a representative of our products and ethos?

You might be a good fit for our team if you:

-Love interacting with customers and thrive in a sales role. Engaging customers effectively as they walk past the booth is a crucial part of this role- you should be someone who enjoys striking up conversation with folks.

-Have enthusiasm for farmers' markets, locally sourced food, and/or salmon.

-Love to work outdoors.

-Are comfortable working on your own. After training, you will be mostly working on your own. It is vitally important that you are able to set up on time, comfortable dealing with dynamic situations, etc.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Valid WA State Driver's license, auto insurance, and a vehicle at least as big as an SUV/hatchback.

Must have a current Food Handler Permit or the ability to obtain one.

Excellent face-to-face customer service, sales, and communication skills.

Able to explain the unique aspects of our products (Bristol Bay sockeye salmon) and company.

Listening to customers and reporting feedback to management.

Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.

Ensuring adherence to standards and food safety regulations at each market.

Effectively monitoring and managing inventory.

Location: Various Seattle farmers markets

Job starts from storage locker in Ballard and requires some driving. Drive time is paid, and no vehicle is necessary- we have a van for markets (but a drivers' license is required).

HOURS/SALARY/WAGE

Hours worked for each market depend on the market hours. $21/hour + 15% commission for every dollar over $600 in sales. As an example, over the last few weeks in Ballard, our sales have averaged about $780 over the last few weeks. If you sell $780, you will make 15% of $180, or $27 in addition to your hourly wages.

We'd love to hear from you! Please send us your RESUME!
