The Credential Evaluations Manager oversees all aspects of transcript evaluations, degree and certificate conferrals, and transfer credit articulation at Pierce College. This position ensures evaluation processes align with institutional policies, state regulations, and national best practices in higher education.

The manager supervises credential evaluation staff, provides training on transfer credit policies, and collaborates with faculty and instructional departments to support student completion pathways. This position also serves as the subject matter expert (SME) for credentialing processes within ctcLink (PeopleSoft) and plays a key role in process improvement efforts related to student records and degree completion. The Credential Evaluations Manager is committed to fostering equitable access to credentialing services, particularly for historically underrepresented students.

This position reports directly to the Dean of Enrollment and Registrar. Regular and consistent attendance is required, with the potential for 1–2 remote workdays per week.

Essential Functions:

The Credential Evaluations Manager will be responsible for the following, but not limited to:

Credential Related Responsibilities

Contribute to the overall goals, services, and activities of Credential Evaluations.

Develop, implement, and refine effective evaluation policies and workflows.

Review and process transfer credit, degree applications, dual credit, and Joint Service Transcripts (JST).

Monitor process effectiveness in relation to student completion initiatives.

Serve as a resource for resolving complex credit articulation or course equivalency issues.

Maintain credential records per SBCTC and institutional policies.

Collaborate with faculty and staff to address concerns and resolve issues.

Foster positive, collaborative relationships across departments.

Student System/Technology Related Responsibilities

Serve as SME for ctcLink Campus Solutions, including Academic Advisement Reports, Test Credit, and Transfer Credit Rules.

Develop and update Academic Advisement Reports used by students, staff, and faculty.

Build and maintain transfer equivalency rules.

Provide system training and technical support to faculty and staff.

Continuously improve graduation processing and system functionalities.

Partner with IT and Enrollment Services to enhance system processes.

Supervision and Leadership

Department supervision.

Supervise and evaluate credential evaluation staff.

Graduation planning and support.

Develop department procedures and ensure compliance with policies.

Promote an inclusive and equity-minded work environment.

Represent the department in college-wide and state-level meetings, training sessions, and events.

Education Required

Associate's degree from an accredited college or university OR equivalent years of supervisory and operational experience with K-12 systems, college records management, credential evaluations, or another related field. Education to Experience Equivalences: Associates Degree = 2 years | Bachelors Degree = 4 years | Masters Degree = 5 years

Experience Required

One (1) year of experience in an educational setting providing direct student support OR one (1) year managing a client caseload in a school or agency.

Demonstrated ability to provide culturally responsive service in-person, via email, and virtually.

Supervisory and operational experience with credential evaluations, advising, curriculum, college records management, or another related field.

Strong skills in problem-solving, needs assessment, and solution exploration.

Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and serving historically marginalized students.

Experience interpreting and applying policies and procedures.

Proficiency in using databases and information management systems.
