Location: SeaTac, WA Description: Our client is currently seeking a (Contract) Flight Operations Software Lead for a 12 to 18 month contract with an aerospace company near Seattle, WA. Candidates must be or holders. No C2C.
This job will have the following responsibilities:- Lead a multi-element team in the design, implementation, test, verification, and deployment of flight operations and safety-critical software
- Perform trade studies to determine whether to develop software tools in-house, subcontract work for development, or purchase/adapt existing software for various functions
- Oversee development of rapid prototypes to prove out concepts and quantify technical risks
- Support flight control software operations responsibilities (maintenance, flaw correction, enhancements) across all phases of the spacecraft life cycle, including integration and flight
- Coordinate with mission control infrastructure and mission systems engineers to plan, develop, and lead system verification and qualification to ensure software products that meet system requirements and safety critical standards
- Bachelor of Science in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, aerospace engineering, or related field or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of relevant space mission related software development including 5+ years of experience building or deploying flight operations-oriented ground software
- Prior experience in leadership of a software development team over the full life cycle of software development
- Highly experienced in C/C and Python
- Familiarity with Linux environments and comfortable with basic Unix system administration activities
- Experience with interfacing controls software written in C/C/Simulink
- Experience with software development in mission and safety-critical environments, such as DO-178
- Experience with Linux, GNU toolchain, Python, Labview, MATLAB/Simulink, real time operating systems, serial communication
- Experience with fault-tolerant software design, human error assessment and human error fault tolerance
- Experience with GN&C software integration in an embedded system with familiarity with flight sensors and actuators
- Experience developing software systems for the following applications:
- Telemetry data management, display and archival
- Fault monitoring and alarm notification systems
- Human command interfaces, command sequencers
- Control and scheduling of ground-based tracking and communications stations.
- Ground based orbit determination and navigation.
- Mission and activity planning and scheduling and timeline display for space missions.
- Electronic, distributed team procedure authoring and execution
- Space mission visualization, including virtual reality systems
