A day in the life of an ERDF / IDF Waste Acceptance Specialist involves:
Maintaining working knowledge of the waste acceptance criteria and the waste acceptance processes at ERDF and IDF.
Work directly with waste generators to ensure compliant management of mixed low-level waste (MLLW), low-level waste (LLW), hazardous / dangerous, and non-regulated wastes in support of the development of waste profiles.
Work directly with waste generators to ensure compliant container waste acceptance.
Coordinate with waste generators and ERDF / IDF personnel for reviews and approvals on waste acceptance documentation.
Review waste generator chemical designations and radioactive waste determinations with a focus on regulatory and facility waste acceptance criteria compliance.
Review various Project documents (data quality objectives (DQOs), sampling and analysis plans (SAPs) etc.) and provide comments as feedback to the waste generator.
Participate in waste generator site visits to observe and assess generator compliance with regulations and ERDF / IDF waste acceptance criteria.
Understanding and administering quality program standards.
Performing Waste Management Information System (WMIS) data entry.
Performing chemical and radioactive waste characterization designations.
Interpreting laboratory analysis.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Basic Qualifications
Career Level Grade 17: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with 6 or more years of relevant experience.
Senior Level Grade 18: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with 8 or more years of relevant experience.
The higher posted level has greater scope, complexity, authority, impact. The level offered to the selected candidate will be based on the needs of the company and the candidate's education, training, and/or experience.
Desired Qualifications
BS degree in chemistry or in a technical discipline.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
Current or past Hazardous waste worker.
Current or past Radiological worker 1.
Current or past Hazardous Waste Designation experience.
Experience in radioactive and hazardous waste management and operations.
Previous experience with Washington State and Federal environmental regulations (WAC, RCRA, CERCLA, and TSCA), waste management, and radiochemistry.
