Applies knowledge of statistics, machine learning, advanced mathematics, simulation, software development, and data modeling to integrate and clean data, recognize patterns, address uncertainty, pose questions, and make discoveries from structured and/or unstructured data. Produces solutions driven by exploratory data analysis from complex and high-dimensional datasets. Designs, develops, and evaluates predictive models and advanced algorithms that lead to optimal value extraction from the data. Demonstrates ability to transfer skills across application domains.Leads and contributes to publishing and presenting results in scientific computing journals, conferences, and to sponsoring agencies. Mentors and trains early career staff and interns to foster the next generation of data scientists.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
BS/BA and 5+ years of relevant work experience -OR-
MS/MA and 3+ years of relevant work experience -OR-
PhD with 1+ year of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Expert knowledge of modern scientific deep learning methods, including Neural ODEs, PINNs, operator networks, and graph neural networks.
Proficiency in Python and/or Julia, technical libraries such as SciPy, Numpy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, Pytorch, TensorFlow, and optimization tools like Gurobi or CPLEX.
Proven leadership in developing open-source scientific machine learning code.
Extensive experience in applying machine/deep learning to scientific domains such as chemistry, biology, and energy.
Demonstrated ability to develop innovative solutions and engage with the technical community through peer-reviewed articles, software contributions, or other technical work products.
Strong publication record in leading scientific conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AAAI.
Experience collaborating on and leading multi-disciplinary teams to solve complex problems.
Proven ability to develop new ideas for proposals and business development opportunities.
Demonstrated capability to acquire funding for self-led initiatives with programmatic impact.
Experience scoping, scheduling, and budgeting for projects or major tasks.
Proven ability to lead technical products and mentor early career staff.
Established leadership role within professional communities, including societies, other laboratories, academia, or industry.
