You’ll improve the solutions we build by uncovering actionable insights for the existing product, as well as gaps, needs, and opportunities to guide future investments. You’ll work with designers, product managers, developers, and other researchers to strategize together on ambiguous and ambitious challenges. You’ll use your storytelling skills to inspire change at all stages of product development by delivering engaging, insightful, and action-oriented recommendations that are easy to digest and act upon.Your primary job is to advocate for our users and turn their needs into reality by helping the product team understand what would make a user’s experience more useful, valuable, and delightful. Work closely with cross-functional product teams to develop a research program that includes strategic and tactical research studies, and proactively advocate for collecting the right data to positively impact product direction and experience

Conduct a mixture of qualitative and quantitative research activities to inform all stages of product development, from exploratory analyses to generative hypotheses to driving UX health metrics that shape product experience

Create actionable insights from your own research findings and by leveraging research done by others

Communicate your findings in a clear, concise, and visual (when appropriate) manner to key stakeholders

Empower your stakeholders to make effective decisions and take action on research insights in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment

Influence senior leadership with a persuasive data-driven stance on business opportunities and experience gaps

QualificationsRequired Qualifications :  

Bachelor's Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Communications, Information Science, Information Architecture, User Experience Design, Behavioral Science, Social Sciences, or related field AND 2+ years User Experience Research experience

OR Master's Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, Computer Science, Technical Communications, Information Science, Information Architecture, User Experience Design, Behavioral Science, Social Sciences, or related field AND 1+ year(s) User Experience Research experience

OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.  

Preferred Qualifications:

3-5 years of experience conducting product design research

Experience using a variety of design research methodologies including but not limited to: usability studies, field studies, in-depth interviews, heuristic evaluations, concept validation, user journey maps, benchmarks, scorecards, competitive reviews, surveys and experience with UI design best practices and agile software development.

Ability to quickly and effectively analyze research data and present rich findings simply and clearly to influence product design and direction

Demonstrated experience delivering projects and customer insights that resulted in positive product impact

Passion for learning new technologies and understanding the needs of users across a wide range of technical abilities.

Excellent project management skills

Ability to work effectively across functions and with members of other teams

Experience generating andleveraging quantitative insights such as telemetry-based usage data and high-volume survey data

Thorough understanding of trends in Artificial Intelligence (AI), and experience researching AIadoption and use

Understanding of and experience with software and tools for user research (e.g., Usertersting.com, UserZoom, Dscout, Figma, Qualtrics)

Experience with research on business applications and enterprise SaaS (software as a service) solutions

UX Research IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
