Position: Fiber Maintenance Engineer

Duration: 12 Months

Location: Redmond WA

Job Responsibilities: Layer 1 Fiber SME who can handle Campus Fiber Network (Building to Building Connectivity).Independently perform activities like Install, repair and/or layout all types of fiber communication cabling.Terminate, splice, and test fiber communication cabling, Splice-On Connectors (Single Mode / Multi Mode Fiber)Troubleshoot issues with communication cabling.Well versed with power meters, OTDR and fiber splicing systems. Should be able to work on built-in OTDR systems, Ciena Software, observing the light levels.Hands on experience in cutting, cleaning, and splicing fiber.Working with other team members to meet daily and weekly installation/repair target timelines.Maintaining professional attitude and always represent our company well.Completion and submission of site documentation and capturing photographs of the before and after work.Maintain fiber infrastructure and perform routing cabling, cable routing activities.Support Intra building Connectivity, Capacity/ Circuit Migration Activities, Troubleshooting and MACD activities.Support Ad-Hoc work like OSP Inspection, support general contractor team for access within Campus.

Skills Required: Strong experience in fiber maintenance domain.Must be experienced with troubleshooting, installing, splicing, and testing fiber cable. Own CSA approved (6 ) steel-toed work boots and hard hat and should be comfortable to use (if required on site).Ability to carry tools at job location (list will be provided).Able to work at different heights and humanly accessible congested areas of fiber deployments.Ability to carry tools and materials without restriction usually 50 75 lbs.Able to work overhead - without restriction.Comfortable working at heights on ladders or in a bucket truck.Knowledge of fiber installations would be considered an asset.Knowledge of fiber color coding standards, dressing fiber in trays WSB, FDF and enclosures.Readiness to work 40 - 44 hours a week with occasional overtime including evening and weekend work.
