BASIC FUNCTION
The Street Maintenance Worker is responsible for the construction, maintenance, and repair of city infrastructure, including streets, alleys, sidewalks, structures, streetlights, traffic signals, fiber optic networks, and related facilities. This role involves a variety of tasks ranging from routine maintenance to emergency response and requires the ability to operate equipment, adhere to safety protocols, and communicate effectively with team members and the public.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Apprentice
Street Maintenance Worker- Apprentice is an entry-level position that performs assigned duties under direct supervision.
Journey
Street Maintenance Worker- Journey employees are generally specialized in the operation, maintenance, and repairs of City Street systems and related facilities. Journey-level employees are capable of accomplishing the full range of tasks as assigned. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the division.
Senior
Street Maintenance Worker- Senior positions are more technically advanced and may serve in a lead capacity in their specific area or in other interdepartmental specialties as assigned, they may also serve as the responsible party on job sites as assigned. Performs and leads operation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting activities to identify and remedy problems and/or malfunctions in order to ensure continuous operation or the Streets Division in accordance with all applicable rules, and regulations.
