Another Source’s client, the University of Idaho, is recruiting a Technical Product Manager to join their University Communication and Marketing team. This position can be remote but will preferably be in Moscow, Idaho.

University of Idaho is seeking a Technical Product Owner for University Communication and Marketing (UCM). UCM is responsible for advancing U of I’s brand through focused messaging efforts. While these communications vary in type and channel, all messages are sent through or with the support of technology.

About the Role:

The Technical Product Manager coordinates the planning, design, and development of software applications. This position is responsible for the success of a product or family of products. This position will work closely with cross-functional business leaders, peers and technology leadership to ensure systems are positioned for the growth of the university. This includes performing or supervising analysis, design, development, and testing, to ensure the deployment of reliable, secure, and scalable business-critical applications and platforms.

Primary Responsibilities:

50%- Provide Vision and Leadership for a Product or Product Portfolio by:

Serving as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a product or portfolio of related products

Understanding available software platforms

Understanding and representing user needs

Defining a vision for a product and creating product roadmaps

Aligning stakeholders around the vision for the product

Prioritizing product features and capabilities

Ensuring effective cross-functionality and collaboration between teams

Determining metrics for success

Collecting and interpreting customer feedback

Coordinating with other Product Managers on prioritizing, scheduling, architecting and communicating change across the university

Managing customer satisfaction and adhering to service level targets

40%- Provide Product Ownership and Project Management by:

Ensuring development projects and software deployments meet business requirements and goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and comply with all applicable security, privacy, audit requirements and regulations and delivered with the highest quality

Managing the product lifecycle, creating upgrade and testing schedules and coordinating regression, QA and UAT testing

Managing a product backlog, gathering requirements and user stories, prioritizing tasks, monitoring progress, and providing feedback

Developing technical design documents, architectural diagrams and process flows by collaborating with peers and team members

Performing continuous review of technologies, industry standards and industry-related developments and making recommendations relative to the need for further research and associated changes

Delivering projects and initiatives to meet organizational priorities and timelines

10%- Manage Key Partner Relationships by:

Representing organizational IT in meetings related to your supported product family

Creating and promoting a culture of excellent customer service

Establishing and maintaining ties with colleagues throughout the institution to ensure optimal collaboration and coordination of effort

Maintaining relationships with technology vendors for the department and/or business owners

Maintaining relationships with leadership, business owners and end users to better understand their needs and address organizational goals

Qualifications:

Three years working with software applications in a technical or functional support role

High School Diploma or equivalent

Additional Preferred:

Five or more years of experience working with software applications in a technical or functional leadership role

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management of Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field

Agile Certification (e.g., Product Owner, Scrum Master or similar)

ITIL Certification

Unit-test frameworks, testing automation and CI/CD tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Selenium, JUnit, GitLab CI/CD)
