Work as a member of the Sample Receiving section of WADDL.
Primary tasks:
Open and assess packages containing veterinary specimen submissions for diagnostic testing
Perform data entry for diagnostic cases in VADDS, a laboratory information management system
Autoclave and secure medical waste for disposal
Other tasks as assigned may include sample labeling, delivery, consultation with pathologists on testing, stocking, dishwashing and cleaning the lab, and taking equipment temperatures.
Drive WADDL truck as assigned to deliver and pick up samples
Requirements:
Must be able to work M-F 11:00 am to 2:00 pm during busy package opening and log in hours
Must be able to work Saturdays morning shift once every 3-4 weeks
Available for occasional early 7:45-9:15 courier shift
Valid Drivers License and good driving record; ability to drive in all kinds of weather.
Must be able to work with biological specimens in a BSL-2 lab environment.
Strong data entry skills and ability to record detailed information accurately.
Experience or training in a biology or microbiology lab or clinical laboratory
Customer service experience and good written & verbal communication skills
Preferred:
Interest in animal health, zoology, pre-veterinary sciences.
