Another Source’s client, University of Idaho, is recruiting a Director of Infrastructure and IT Operations to join their team in Moscow, Idaho. This is an on-campus role, with the flexibility to work from home as needed.

Position Overview

This leadership position is directly responsible for the direction of the IT Infrastructure and Operations team, leads the development of university-wide infrastructure technology goals and objectives and leads the implementation and maintenance of supporting technologies. This position develops a university-wide investment strategy for advanced innovative infrastructure technology and actively develops and reviews university programs, processes, and capabilities to ensure that infrastructure technology programs and initiatives supports the delivery of functionality to accomplish the statewide mission of education, extension, and outreach. IT Infrastructure and Operations support university-wide services for the statewide data network, telecommunications infrastructure Internet connectivity and computer and storage services both on-premise and in the cloud.

This position reports to the VP for IT and Chief Information Officer and is part of the Office of Information Technology (OIT) leadership team.

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $120k to 140k

year depending on education and experience.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a comprehensive technology infrastructure strategy aligned with OIT and university objectives

Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the university’s IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, storage, and other critical systems

Ensure team focus on the security, integrity, and availability of all technology infrastructure components

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation projects from concept to implementation

Manage technology projects and work closely with stakeholders to define success criteria to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.

Build and lead a high-performing technology team, fostering a collaborative and inclusive team culture that values diversity and promotes a positive working environment and professional development opportunities

Evaluate, select, and manage technology vendors, service providers and related contracts to ensure the delivery of high-quality services and solutions

Support the development and continuous improvement of rigorous IT service management processes for IT Infrastructure and Operations and for the Office of Information Technology

Breakdown of Responsibilities:

40% Provide effective and efficient computing and network infrastructure services

20% Ensuring highly secure computing and network infrastructure

20% Developing and implementing short and long-range plans for the Office of Information Technology

20% Developing and implementing short and long-range plans for the Office of Information Technology

Providing vision, leadership and management for the IT Infrastructure and Operations unit

Required Experience

8 years planning and implementing technology infrastructure in a customer-focused environment

5 years managing technical personnel

Working in a customer service-oriented team environment to accomplish shared goals

Managing multiple multi-stakeholder technology projects with competing deadlines and budgets

Designing and deploying infrastructure in a hybrid-cloud environment

Experience in IT service management and IT process development and improvement

Required Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems; four additional years of experience (for a total of twelve years) may substitute a Bachelor’s Degree

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of enterprise network architecture, design, and support

Documented on-premise and cloud infrastructure administration experience

Proven experience with large scale project management

Preparation of successful grant proposals for technology infrastructure

Working knowledge of service level agreements

Experience with both commercial and open source enterprise class network management tools

Experience managing technology infrastructure in higher education

Proven experience in networking voice, data and video

Background of servicing customers in a technical environment

Understanding of endpoint management concepts

Experience with ITSM and ITIL, particularly incident and change management

Understanding of DevOps concepts and the role of infrastructure support in successful delivery

Understanding of Agile methodologies
