Job Title: Van Conversion Lead

Job Summary
Camp N Car seeks a Van Conversion Lead to oversee key projects in our expanding custom conversion shop. This role entails comprehensive involvement in van conversions from inception to completion. The Lead will play a vital role within our skilled team, directing carpentry projects, handling 12V electrical systems, plumbing, window installation, exterior modifications, and more. As familiarity with Camp N Car and our processes grows, the Lead will also engage with customers and conduct consultations and project estimates.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the Custom Shop team on projects ranging from full van conversions to car camper builds, RV renovations, and beyond.
- Fabricate a wide variety of wood furniture and components for van interiors such as cabinetry, bed platforms, storage solutions, trim pieces, paneling, and more.
- Carry out the installation of 12V power systems in vans, run wire, affix solar panels, and demonstrate competency in how the power output relates to the van amenities.
- Work on and troubleshoot plumbing systems ranging from freshwater tanks to sinks, showers, composting toilets, water heaters, and more.
- Install diesel and gasoline heaters from brands like Webasto and Espar.
- Accurately track and report time and materials expenses for each project.
- Interface with clients to discuss ongoing projects and carry out initial consultations to help design projects and determine expected expenses.
- Provide input to improve project designs and workflow processes continuously.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will need to excel in carpentry and understand the intricate systems involved in crafting vans and complex camper conversions. Experience with campervans is preferred, with a background in boat or tiny home projects being advantageous. Familiarity with current vanlife culture is beneficial but not required. The ideal candidate has prior experience in collaborative, high-ticket projects, showcasing strong communication, problem-solving, and creativity. Inclusive management skills and the ability to positively influence and lead a team of others are essential.

- Starting pay ranges between $30 – $36 an hour depending on experience

Schedule
- 4-day work weeks with the potential to increase to 5-day work weeks if desired
- Work days start at 9:00 AM and end at 5:00 PM with unpaid lunch and one paid break
- Monday – Thursday or Tuesday – Friday schedule depending on availability and need
- Opportunities for a flexible schedule as needed with advance notice
