Northwest Watershed Institute is seeking candidates for our seasonal environmental restoration field crew located near Quilcene, WA.

NWI field crew members plant native trees and shrubs, harvest live-stake cuttings of native plants, manually remove invasive plants, prepare restoration sites for volunteer planting events with our Plant-A-Thon and Dabob Days programs, and perform other restoration-oriented tasks. The field crew works almost exclusively outside and often in inclement weather conditions. Work is focused on restoring the Tarboo Watershed from the headwaters to Tarboo-Dabob Bay.

Our work is physically demanding and in difficult terrain and candidates must be able to repeatedly lift and carry up to 50 lbs, work with hand tools and small motorized equipment, and walk carrying supplies as much as 6-8 miles per day.

Work will be from January 9th- March 28th, 2025 with potential for extension depending on available funding. Work will be 32 hours per week Tuesday-Friday 8am- 4pm with two 15-minute breaks and a paid 30-minute lunch. Pay is $21/hour.

Desired Qualifications:

Required:

Ability to maintain a positive attitude while performing difficult physical work, often in inclement weather.

Punctual with reliable transportation to near Quilcene, WA.

Interest in environmental restoration and motivation to work hard to accomplish tasks.

Ability to work well with others on a small field crew.

Preferred:

Knowledge of native plants of western Washington or interest in learning them.

Experience operating and maintaining weed whackers and chain saws.

Experience in environmental field work.
