The Human Resources Manager serves the organization in a wide variety of Human Resources areas including but not limited to recruiting and on-boarding, employee relations and investigations, benefits, and data management. As a part of our team the HR Manager is expected to contribute a high quality, smoothly run operation providing exceptional customer service and communication to clients, vendors, and others on the team.

Areas of Responsibility

Maintain a calm and resourceful presence providing excellent internal customer service to all employees as well as external customers

Update and maintain the Employee Handbook in compliance with state and federal laws and employment best practices

Create resources or act as a resource to inform and educate employees and owners on policies and HR best practices

Recruit for open positions ensuring needed documentation, scheduling and correspondence

Facilitate new hire meetings and follow through with completion and storage of documents

Keep employee files, data, and spreadsheets up to date and accurate

Train staff or ensure staff are trained on employment related areas such as time usage, sexual harassment, etc.

Support employee relations; identify and resolve issues or conflict

Identify issues or trends, take action to report and mitigate risk ensuring

Participate as member of Safety team, helping with documentation and follow up with individuals who miss a meeting

Create and keep up to date job descriptions

Oversee performance management program, tracking dates and ensuring an effective, relevant system

Ensure timely benefit enrollment for employees, keeping employees informed of any changes or new benefits

Participate on the COVID or related committee, track new developments and inform /communicate with employees and keep related policies up to date and relevant

Conduct investigation or grievance process including report and recommendation for action or discipline

Oversee employee requests for leave of absence and requests for accommodation

Manage L&I and Workers Comp issues and injuries

Champion an equitable, diverse workforce and inclusive, accepting culture

Assist with strategic planning, succession planning, and career paths

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

3-5 years’ experience as HR Generalist or Manager as a minimum

Small and growing business experience working alongside company ownership preferred

HR certification preferred or additional years of experience

Microsoft Office experience and ability to learn any applicable software programs

Fluent in written and spoken English

Ability maintain confidentiality
