JOB SUMMARY: The Network Engineer engineers and architects the network infrastructure for Edmonds School District by following best practices established by the industry/organization. This position administers district network services, provides high-level technical support for all network services, and coordinates work processes to support network systems across the District. Additionally, this position monitors systems, establishes effective network security measures, and develops processes to protect the District’s resources.

POSITION TYPE/INFORMATION:

  • Compensation Schedule: Professional Technical Level 16
  • Work Year: 8 hours a day, 260 day per year work calendar
  • Reports to: IT Infrastructure Supervisor
  • Supervises: None
  • FLSA Status: Exempt

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:
  • Minimum two (2) years Cisco IT enterprise-level network engineering experience, plus five (5) additional years supporting an enterprise network
OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field and three (3) years of relevant Cisco IT network engineering/administration experience
Human Resources may consider work experience, certification equivalency, and continuing education as an alternative to the degree when assessing this required qualification Per Governor Jay Inslee's proclamation, all school district employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved medical or religious exemption. All new hires will be required to provide verification of vaccination or be eligible for an exemption, as a condition of employment.

Licenses/Special Requirements:
  • Cisco Certified Network Administrator or Cisco Certified Network Professional - CCNA or CCNP (or willingness to obtain within 1 year of the hire date).
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Cisco ISE and Cisco Prime configuration and engineering experience.
  • Cisco IP-based phone system experience.
  • Bilingual/Multilingual preferred (ability to speak and write fluently in both English and another language).
