Human Resources Specialist (Reception)

We are currently recruiting for an energetic and reliable team player within the agency as part of the Human Resources department. This position will perform a variety of technical administrative duties and support a number of departmental programs. The Human Resources Specialist is the first point of contact for internal/external customers (in person or by phone) and provides information, forms, and materials; acts as the department's primary point of contact for employment verification and provides information/guidance on general human resources topics.

This position is located at the the Human Resources reception desk and frequently interacts with current Pierce Transit staff. The ideal candidate understands the importance of customer service, valuing and respecting every employee and can communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences. The individual we are seeking will need to be proactive, friendly, accurate, customer-focused and have the ability to handle competing priorities while staying on task in a fast-paced Human Resources environment.Essential FunctionsThe following functions are not intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Provides information to employees and managers on benefits and leave management. Processes employee eligibility for leave programs.

Responds to customer inquiries, verifies employment.

Tracks operational attendance and performance management materials.

Participates in and supports benefits open enrollment, provides information and serves as a point of contact for questions.

Files, archives, and purges in accordance with established regulations, procedures, and archival policies.

May participate in new employee orientation with new hires. Organizes and facilitates agency's onboarding process for new hires.

Coordinates mail and office communications.

Participates in special projects, as assigned.

Maintains confidentiality.

Demonstrates regular and consistent attendance.

Performs related work as required.

QualificationsRequired:

High school diploma, or equivalent and

Three (3) years of administrative or human resources experience in a busy office environment.

Desired:

Public sector experience desired.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Knowledge of:

Basic human resources and employment law

Recruitment, assessment, and selection processes

Human resources reporting and record-keeping requirements

Change management

Business English

Standard office procedures

Microsoft Office products and applicable software

Skill in:
