About our Farm:
Moon Family Farm is an Eastern Washington dryland wheat farm with a strong conservation focus. We take care of the land, the crops, the community, and each other. We continually look for ways to do things better, with less impact, while working hand in hand with nature to grow the best crops we can in a challenging climate. We are a small team of a husband and wife plus two PT employees, and we need someone who is thorough, conscientious, and works well with all of us.

You need to be engaged and ready to learn every day. You must be punctual, considerate of others, and capable of taking direction while also comfortable working by yourself. We have a knowledgeable team and you will learn lots with us.

About the Work:
Farming is an industry where you get to do it all, and so is this job! Approximately 45% repairs, maintenance and improvements. 45% tractor work, equipment and truck driving, 10% general labor. The exact amounts vary by season. We fix things when it’s slow so we can be in the field when we need to be.
For the mechanical work, it will be mostly in the shop or yard, sometimes in the field. Oil and fluid changes, equipment inspections, minor to medium repairs on everything from small engines to heavy trucks and tractors. We keep things running tip top and take pride in our equipment. Light to medium metal fabrication, welding and repairs. Improvements and redesigns on non-functioning components, rebuilds and reinforcements. Building and infrastructure maintenance – minor carpentry, plumbing, weatherproofing, electrical repairs in keeping with your skills and willingness for that type of work.
In the field, work will be mostly tractor driving and spraying. Hauling water and batching and loading chemicals into sprayer. Seeding, fertilizing, chopping, tillage, operating grain wagon during harvest. Grading roads and ditches, earthwork and erosion control. Dump truck and loader work. Hauling and cleaning grain and seed. Loading and driving trucks. No CDL required for this job but must know or be willing to learn to drive manual transmissions.
For labor, you may be directing and/or working as part of a labor crew on larger tasks. Keeping work spaces and farmstead neat and tidy. Pressure washing, blowing down and cleaning equipment. The primary focus of this job is not general labor, but it is required from time to time to keep things flowing.

$21-24/hour (depending on experience), plus overtime if wanted. Hours are flexible in the off season if you want personal time off. As you grow in the job, advance our farm and stay with us longer, we want to bump you up quickly. So pay increases at 30 days and 6 months. Full benefits and health care package after 1 year vested service. Annual bonus and additional fringe benefits based on value you bring to our farm. On-farm housing possibly available after 3 months service.
