Provides with basic aspects of patient care, patient mobility and maintenance of equipment under the direction of a Registered Nurse in a defined care team. Contributes to the delivery of patient focused care.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Assists with cleaning of equipment and maintenance of department; may exchange oxygen tanks and/or attach IV’s to wheelchairs or gurneys as necessary.

Escorts patient at the time of discharge from their room to personal transportation.

Maintains a safe work and patient environment, adhering to the hospital’s Safety, Risk Management, Regulatory Standards and infection prevention.

Performs basic life support, gives assistance to medical staff during emergencies, and may respond to hospitals codes.

Performs basic patient care activities, based on skill, ability and limitations of scope of practice, as directed by management and/or nursing staff.

If assigned , checks, cleans and disinfects mobile non-critical medical equipment (e.g. IV pumps/poles, feeding pumps, cardiac monitoring equipment, cabinets, etc.) in accordance with established standards/procedures and manufacturer’s instructions; assures that disinfectant is applied with sufficient contact time.

Transports patients to and from nursing units and ancillary departments in a manner conducive to patient safety and comfort; returns all equipment after transport (ie. wheelchair, stretcher); informs floors when patient is being transported; provides feedback to healthcare staff on occurrences during period of transport.

QualificationsEducation/Work Experience RequirementsCompletion of an accredited Nursing Assistant program (or military medical specialty training). Six months related work experience, preferably in a hospital setting.Licensure/Certification

Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant by the Washington State Nursing Commission.

Current healthcare provider BLS certification.
