Mt Baker Products, Bellingham's premier plywood manufacturer, has an immediate opening for a Forklift Shipper. This is a full-time day shift (7 am to 3 pm, Monday through Friday) with potential for overtime.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Use forklift to move raw materials, including loading/off-loading trucks and railcars
Rotate stock to maintain organization and maximum efficiency
Conduct monthly inventory
Use standard warehouse software to process shipping paperwork
Cross train in other areas of the mill
Other duties, as assigned
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to safely and productively operate forklift (one year of recent experience required); ability to maintain company training certification. Experience using sit-down forklift with monotrol (foot pedals) is highly desirable.
- Ability to move raw materials, including on- and off-loading trucks and railcars;
- Ability to conduct monthly inventory, including climbing ladders to access stock;
- Must have basic computer knowledge; prior experience handling shipping paperwork/warehouse software is preferred.
- Ability to read and follow production schedule; requires continuous workflow planning to maintain efficiency in material movement and shipping preparation;
- Ability to manage variations in work pace and unplanned interruptions;
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including seatbelt;
- Ability to work in climate of seasonal temperature changes, dust particles and exhaust fumes;
- Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with coworkers and customers/vendors.
