Whatcom Community College invites candidates to apply for the Student Life & Development Coordinator position. This role provides support for departmental programs, activities, and events, student leadership training, student-driven civic engagement, and campus engagement opportunities to promote the well-being and advancement of Whatcom Community College's diverse student population. This position works closely with the Student Life and Development team, student leaders, and campus partners to inspire innovative co- and extra-curricular programs and clubs, events, service learning, and student-led conferences that integrate pathways, areas of study, and identity development throughout the student experience. Reporting to the Director for Student Life and Development, the Coordinator ensures that student life and development programs are collaborative and prioritized for the growth, engagement, and development of diverse learners.

The Student Life and Development Coordinator will…

-Coordinate and support student life and development programs, student government, activities and events focused on the advancement of student success and retention for diverse student populations.

-Promote and coordinate student participation and engagement with college governance and faculty tenure committees.

-Develop effective collaboration with key campus and community stakeholders to implement high impact student life and development programs and practices.

-Demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in all programs, activities, and practices.

Responsibilities

Include but not limited to:

-Support Student Life and Development staff, Student Government, Student Clubs, and the Student Life Engagement Team.

-Plan, support, implement, and evaluate student life and development programs, activities, and practices in coordination with the Director and Associate Director.

-Track all goals and objectives, and guide efforts of all staff and student leaders in tracking and documenting progress and achieving outcomes.

-Advance collaboration with other WCC departments and community partners.

-Support the Director in the oversight and supervision of daily front desk operations of the Office of Student Life and Development.

-Support programming and communication strategies for the Orca Food Pantry. Work closely with the students, staff, and community partners to catalyze access opportunities for students who need access to food and hygiene resources and emergency funds.

-Support and coordinate student-led conferences, events, activities, and events.

-Work closely with student services and facilities staff to coordinate and support Whatcom Community College commencement.

-Coordinate and support effective, culturally responsive student engagement activities and events through orientation programs, civic engagement, and peer mentorship.

-Train department staff and student leaders in accordance with applicable state and federal laws, and WCC policies and procedures.

-Ensure student learning outcomes about processes and procedures for ASWCC Clubs.

-Manage administration of club paperwork and track club expenditures, working closely with the ASWCC Club team. Serve as the point of contact and resource for students with questions about ASWCC Clubs processes and procedures.

-Prepare, develop, and manage written communication, website, social media content, and press releases, and marketing materials for all Student Life and Development activities with guidance and collaboration with Marketing & Communications and other College departments when appropriate.

-Serve on other department, division and college-wide committees and represent WCC on community and statewide groups as needed.

-Perform other duties as assigned and/or delegated by the Director for Student Life and Development.

Minimum Qualifications:

-Associate degree from an accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

-Bachelor's degree in education, student affairs, counseling, communications, or other closely related field from an accredited institution.

-Demonstrated experience in administering student programs and student leadership development in a community college setting.

-Excellent verbal, listening, writing, problem-solving and interpersonal communication skills.

-Demonstrated experience in training and supervising staff.

Salary and Appointment:

-This is a full-time Administrative/Exempt position. Exempt from Washington State civil service law with an annual salary based on a range of $44,000.00-$47,000.00 depending on experience.

Benefit Package:

-The position comes with a full benefit package, including health, dental, life, long-term disability insurance and a retirement plan.

-Accrues 8 hours per month of sick leave and 14.67 hours per month vacation leave.
