Executive Director Sun House

Washington, Bellingham, 98225 Bellingham USA

Vacancy caducado!

Sun Community Service, a small non-profit that provides emergency housing and permanent supported housing to people experiencing homelessness who also have significant mental health issues, is hiring for the position of executive director. We are looking for a dynamic, committed director that is enthusiastic about the population we support, happily jumps into direct contact work when needed, steers the agency into new supportive housing projects when opportunities arise, is comfortable managing and provides an excellent role model for our small staff team, and is responsive to the needs and requests of our funders.

Our Philosophy

1. All people, regardless of what they have done or what they do, deserve a home.

2. Long-lasting change is more likely to happen in an environment that is as similar to a person’s hopes for permanent housing as possible.

3. Long-lasting change is more likely to happen in a warm, homelike environment rather than an environment based on the medical model.

4. Long-lasting change is largely the result of a person’s belief that they can change, and this belief is encouraged when

the people around them also believe they can change.

5.Sun House staff strive to be non-judgmental, non-confrontational, and non-adversarial.

6.We strive to use people-first language in our written and verbal communication.

7. Because negative consequences have more harmful effects than positive effects over time, we strive to prevent the use of negative consequences.

8.We assume good intentions lie behind all behavior.

9.We follow best practices and current research.

Minimum Job Requirements:

B.S. or B.A. in Human Services field, or 4 years’ experience in behavioral health
