Mt Baker Products is a premier manufacturer of decorative plywood used for cabinetry, furniture and interiors throughout North America. Our company uses veneers like cherry, walnut and oak to produce high end panels for the woodworking industry.
We currently have an immediate opening for a Forklift Operator on the Swing Shift (2:00 pm to 10:30 pm, M-F) at our Bellingham mill. Overtime, including on Saturdays, may be required. This full time position is available immediately. Forklift certification is not required; we will certify upon successful completion of training.
SUMMARY: Drives forklift to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Safely and productively operate forklift.
Move raw materials, including off-loading trucks.
Rotate stock to maintain organization.
Basic forklift maintenance duties, including recharging batteries and filling fuel tank.
Work cooperatively and communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
Cross train in other areas of the mill.
Work overtime, including on Saturdays, as needed.
Other duties, as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Minimum of 1 year of forklift experience required (requires ability to pass forklift certification, which will be done by the company).
Ability to work productively to a schedule as a member of a team.
Ability to wear assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including seatbelt.
Ability to cross-train and accept new assignments.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The employee will be sitting for long periods of time while operating forklift; will be required to use step/running board to get into and out of forklift multiple times during shift; will be required to wear seatbelt while operating forklift. The work environment may be dusty, and may require working near loud machinery and other moving equipment. The temperature may vary, based on season. PPE must be worn.
