I’m a wildland firefighting contractor and I am looking for help on my thinning crews this summer. The "season" usually starts in mid July and extends through September, which is great for students attending WCC or Western. Usually we will work 40-60 hours per week on deployment. No experience necessary as long as you’ve got a good work ethic and prioritize safety. On deployment, the daily rate starts at $350/ day (DOE), and all meals are provided at fire camp. You will be sleeping at camp and thus need to bring appropriate gear (tent, sleeping pad, bag, pillow, clothes, toiletries, etc.). Fireproof NoMex clothing will be provided after Red Card Training.
Prior to the start of the season, we will need to coordinate with you in order to get you Red Card training in order to work in wildfire hazard zones. Once trained, you will be called this summer as things dry out and fires start up, most commonly in central and eastern Washington and Oregon.
Priority will be given to candidates that have skills/experience in the following (by priority):
1. Safety
2. Automotive/equipment repair
3. Expereince driving with a trailer + ability to back up a trailer
4. Experience leading crews
5. Ability to drive a manual transmission
To apply please respond to this ad with an email of interest and an attached resume, or include work experience. If you have any pressing questions feel free to reach out to Robin at the phone number provided. Thank you for your time.
