Mt Baker Products is a premier manufacturer of decorative plywood used for cabinetry, furniture and interiors throughout North America. Our company uses veneers like cherry, walnut and oak, to produce high-end panels for the woodworking industry. We currently have immediate entry-level openings for a Veneer Pair-up to join our team on day or swing shift.
PAY RATE: $19.00/hour
SCHEDULE: Day Shift: Mon-Fri, 5:30am to 2:00pm; Swing Shift: Mon-Fri, 2:00pm to 10:30pm.
Overtime potential, including Saturdays, is expected.
JOB SUMMARY:
Matches the face/back of skins per the customer order for the production process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Slides and flips wide and long veneer panels to position for inspection and repair.
Inspects the face and back of skins of specified wood type/species, per the customer order, and determines, by appearance, the appropriate pairing of panels.
Makes necessary repairs for imperfections/defects/discolorations.
Confirms the order is complete per the customer’s specifications and prints/attaches tickets to the finished customer order.
Positions loaded rolling cars by pulling or pushing for forklift access for changeovers.
Sweeps work area to keep clear for rolling cars.
Other duties may be assigned. Cross training is essential to maintain productivity on this team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Ability to learn wood grains and species (we will train).
Ability to closely inspect wood panels and identify imperfections, discoloration, and any other defects (we will train).
Ability to read customer tickets and company rules and policies and safety guidelines in English.
Ability to slide and flip large (50” x 99”) veneer skins on a regular basis.
Ability to stand for duration of work shift (8 to 10 hours)
Ability to work cooperatively and productively as part of a team.
Ability to wear safety equipment (PPE) and follow all safety guidelines.
Be available and willing to work overtime.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The employee will be required to stand and walk for the duration of the work shift (8+hours).
Requires the ability to push loaded carts weighing up to 100lbs. on a cement floor, with assistance, as needed.
Ability to slide and flip wide and long (50" x 99") thin veneers weighing up to (5) lbs. on a cart.
Ability to distinguish different color variations and hues.
Ability to grip, hold and manipulate belt sander and veneers on a continuous basis.
WORK ENVIROMENT:
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving forklifts, exhaust fumes and airborne dust/wood particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to varying levels of cold and heat. depending on the season. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but the employee may be briefly exposed to higher volumes of noise while entering and exiting the work area. Personal Protective Equipment, including eye and ear protection, may be required on work assignment.
