Camber - FT Barista Position

We are seeking an experienced barista to join our small team starting in July. This position will be about 30-34 hours (4-5 shifts) per week, Wednesday through Sunday, from July through early September, and will then decrease to 13 hours (2 shifts) per week.

This position starts at $18.66/hr plus tips (between $8-$10/hr). Tips are split evenly between BOH & FOH based on the number of hours worked per day. Benefits include shift drinks & meals, free bag of coffee biweekly, discounts on bagged coffee and brewing equipment, wholesale discounts, and optional health insurance & 401k. We offer paid vacation for full time (30+ hrs/week) employees after 1 year of employment. Paid sick leave accrues at 1 hour per 40 hours worked.

Job duties include: running the front counter Toast POS system, providing excellent and genuine customer service, dialing in espresso, steaming milk proficiently (including pouring latte art), making teas, batch brew and specialty drinks from memory, quickly and efficiently managing a busy bar, cleaning the lobby and bathrooms, doing dishes, stocking the retail shelf and restocking / organizing supplies behind the bar, closely following health & safety protocols as well as daily task checklists, regularly reading Slack communication channels, maintaining excellent knowledge of our rotating bar, food, and pastry offerings.

Applicants must:

be 21+

be able to stand for extended periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs

have some barista experience - specialty coffee experience preferred but not required

be able to work quickly & efficiently in a small space with others

possess an eye for consistency & detail

be an excellent communicator

maintain a sense of urgency

be self-directed, focused, and able to multitask

be willing to maintain very high standards of cleanliness & organization

possess a WA state food handler’s permit and MAST certification (or ability to obtain)

Our team is very tight-knit and it’s important to us to find the right candidate. We interview in a 2-step process beginning with a sit-down interview with our general manager. This is then followed by a paid 1 hour working interview. Upon hiring, the initial 90 days of employment are considered a probationary period for both parties to confirm a good fit.
