We invite you to start your career journey with us and look forward to hearing from you. Job SummaryChartwells Higher Education is seeking a General Manager at Western Washington University. In this role you will direct the day-to-day operations and financial success of three high-volume residential dining halls on campus. You will support the overall success of the food service operation. This includes adhering to the client’s culture and guidelines, the Health Department’s regulations, and company’s standards/policies, and expectations of food quality, freshness and presentation. Additionally, you will be responsible for the following:KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directs the day-to day food service operation

Supervises day-to-day work activities of managers, supervisors and food service workers

Conducts HR functions including, hiring, training, progressive counseling, terminations

Maintains client and customer satisfaction for food quality and customer service

Maintains food and labor costs

Ensures all QA and sanitation standards are maintained

Works with the Chef and management team in creating nutritious and top quality food for the students

Implements new programs in conjunction with the Chartwells marketing and culinary teams

Performs other duties as assigned

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree is preferred, or equivalent professional experience

Eight to ten years upscale food service experience, including six years’ experience at the management level

School dining experience preferred

Experience in personnel management including hiring, supervision, evaluation and succession planning

Proven track record to achieve company goals in compliance with company/client policies and procedures

Excellent leadership and organizational skills, and must possess attention to detail

Supervisory, scheduling, training and coaching skills

Effective problem solving and conflict management skills

Ability to create budgets, flash reports, financial targets and forecasts

Knowledge of cash handling procedures and reconciliation of multiple cash banks and reports

Exceptional business etiquette and client relations

Manages time effectively and prioritizes tasks to meet deadlines

Conformity to the highest standards of personal integrity and ethical behavior

Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and PowerPoint

ServSafe or Department of Health certification a plus
