Whatcom Community College invites applications for a part-time, adjunct faculty instructor to teach social work starting fall quarter 2025. Responsibilities
The Bachelor of Applied Science in Social Work Program is committed to providing high quality, evidenced-based education to meet the diverse and changing healthcare needs of the population and to promoting the development of qualified students prepared for the professional role of Bachelor of Social Work at the entry level. The instructor works collaboratively with the full-time faculty in the BASSW program and students in a variety of settings. The position may include classroom teaching, skills lab and clinical instruction, and simulation activities.
The successful candidate is expected to:
-teach required courses incorporating evidence-based practice that prepare students for the social work profession and advanced placement in MSW program.
-collaborate with college faculty and administrators in contributing to the future vision and scope of the BASSW program at the college.
-remain current in the field and adapt courses to meet changing social work skills and qualification requirements.
-develop and maintain contacts and knowledge of companies and organizations in the community.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
-Master of Social Work (MSW) from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited institution with 2 years post MSW experience in micro, mezzo, or macro setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Teaching experience in social work programs at undergraduate or graduate level.
-Experience in curriculum development and assessing learning outcomes.
-Experience as a supervisor for students in practicum or internship.
-Full or associate level licensure in the state of WA.
Salary:
-Two sections available of $6,179.00 per class for fall quarter 2025.
Benefits:
-Accrues a percentage of 7 hours (equal to the percentage of workload) per month of sick leave (ex. 50% quarterly employment contract x 7 hrs for full-time = 3.5 hrs per month for that quarter.)
Start Date:
-Fall quarter 2025-September 23rd, 2025 is the first day of the quarter.
