Whatcom Community College invites applications for a 9 Month, Recurring, full-time Program Coordinator (Class Code 107N) position.
The Program Coordinator is a student facing position that serves as first point of contact for students engaging with Access & Disability Services (ADS) and Counseling Services. Based at the front desk, this position is responsible for providing high quality administrative and program support to ensure a smooth and supportive experience for all students. The Program Coordinator is often the first face or voice that students encounter, and is instrumental in setting a tone of care, respect, and professionalism.
This position works closely with ADS staff and Personal Counselors and reports to the Director of Access & Disability Services.
The ADS and Counseling Program Coordinator will:
Provide front desk coordination and support for ADS and Counseling Services.
Develop effective collaboration with key campus and community stakeholders.
Demonstrate equity, diversity and inclusion in all support and practices.
Responsibilities
Include but are not limited to:
-Maintain confidentiality and adhere to FERPA, HIPAA, ADA and Section 504 policies.
Serve as the first point of contact, assisting students with general questions, providing program information, appointment scheduling, and helping them navigate ADS and/or Counseling resources.
-Communicate effectively with individuals and groups in person, by phone and through written correspondence.
-Interact with students, staff, and community members in a professional, inclusive, and confidential manner.
-Prepare and manage outgoing communication and promotional material, in collaboration with the Marketing & Communications Department.
-Collaborate with students, faculty, staff, and external agencies to support the mission of ADS and Counseling.
-Enter, manage, and maintain accurate data in relevant systems.
-Monitor, order, and organize office supplies and materials.
-Provide general clerical support and assistance to ADS and Counseling staff.
-Create and produce accessible documents and publications for campus-wide distribution.
-Provide support to students using assistive technologies, with training as needed and willingness to learn new tools.
-Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
-High School graduation or equivalent.
-2 years' experience in a position with similar duties.
OR
-Equivalent combination of education/experience.
And
-Computer proficiency with a high level of comfort with technology and the ability to learn new computer programs.
-Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 platform.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Associate degree and experience working in a higher education institution in counseling or disability support services or equivalent experience.
-Demonstrated experience administering student programs in a community college setting.
-Experience with assistive technologies including creating accessible documents.
-Awareness and sensitivity to the needs of a diverse student population including but not limited to first generation college students, students with disabilities and neurodiversity, students of color, gender non-conforming students.
-Ability to work as a team player and working independently with minimal supervision.
-Ability to remain calm and diffuse situations with individuals who appear agitated.
Salary:
-This is a full-time, 9 month, recurring, classified, WFSE (Washington Federation of State Employees) represented position. Salary is Range 40, starting at Step C, $3,643.00 per month with periodic increments to $4,517.00 per month.
-This position not eligible for remote work.
-Position's schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00 pm. Mid September-mid June.
