General Description of Work

Whatcom Community College invites applications for the Instruction & Classroom Support Technician 1 (class code 255M) position in the College's Health Professions Programs and reports to the Director of Nursing. This recruitment is open to all qualified applicants.

Responsibilities

Typical duties include, but not limited to:

-Work with faculty to set up and tear down nursing program and Nursing Assistant Certified (NAC) labs.

-Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment, complete routine inventory updates, and order lab/simulation supplies.

-Ensures all lab and simulation classrooms are stocked with needed supplies and equipment.

-Assist faculty in running simulation labs, may work with groups or individual students.

-Serve as a simulator operator for scripted scenarios under direction of faculty.

-Program and instructional use of simulation products including simulators, LLEAP, SimChart, SimCapture and Sim Manager.

-Maintains simulation and lab equipment in good working order including cleaning and repairing as needed.

-Set up, operate, and troubleshoot clinical simulation and lab technologies and associated audio-visual equipment.

-Inspect, test, adjust, and troubleshoot simulation hardware and software, including routers and switches, ordering parts as needed.

-Collaborates with IT department, Simulation Team and applicable vendor technical support services to ensure all simulators, and simulation software is kept up to date and all audiovisual equipment is in good working order.

-Prepares simulation equipment for shipment when off-site maintenance by vendor is needed.

-Manage virtual simulation platforms, licenses, and log on information for students and faculty.

-Gathers, analyze, and report on lab and simulation outcome data as directed.

-Educate area administrators, technicians, and faculty members on the use of simulation equipment.

-Participate in applicable meetings for Lab/ Simulation and simulation related activities.

-Assist with tours of the simulation lab; some tours may take place during nonstandard business hours.

-Assist with special projects or initiatives as needed.

-Requires punctual and regular attendance.

-Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

-Associate Degree.

-1 year of relevant experience.

OR

-Equivalent combination of education/experience.

Preferred (not required) Qualifications:

-Interest in the use of simulation technology in health professions education.

-Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.

-Strong organizational skills & experience with inventory process.

-Self-directed and able to multitask.

-Associate or higher degree in health-related field.

-Experience in use of simulation equipment and technology systems.

-Collaborative working style, able to work effectively in a team.

-Knowledge and comfort with educational technology and Learning Management Systems.

-Experience in Community College educational environments.

-Experience working with Health Care organizations.

-Proficiency in MS software application, MS outlook, Word and excel.

Salary:

-Range 39, full-time Classified salary starting at $3,393.00 per month with periodic increments to $4,410.00 per month.

-This position is not eligible for remote work.

Benefit Package:

-The position comes with a full benefit package, including health, dental, life, long-term disability insurance and a retirement plan.

-Accrues 8 hours per month of sick leave and 11.33 hours per month vacation leave with periodic vacation accrual increases based on longevity.

-11 paid holidays annually.

-1 personal holiday annually after 4 months of continuous employment.

-2 personal leave days annually after 4 months of continuous employment.

Shift and Working conditions:

-Position's shift is 40 hours per week, primarily Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. Some early morning, weekends and evenings are required in support of WCC's Health Professions cohorts. Indoor lab in a busy health care education building. May have extended hours sitting at the workstation. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
