Position: Executive Director (ED) for Blue Skies for Children

Reports To: Board President

Position is full-time with flexible hours during Summer months.

Responsibilities

General & Office:

Provide support, training and leadership for office staff, contract employees, contractors, & volunteers.

Develop and manage office policies and procedures, maintain an open-door culture and team attitude.

Knowledge and ability to provide back up support for Administrative Coordinator and Program Coordinator(s).

Knowledge of deposits and support of bookkeeper as needed.

Management of annual budget and all revenue and expense general ledger designations.

Review and oversight of monthly financial reports, and quarterly Fund Report.

Attend monthly board meetings and present Executive Director’s report.

Participate in annual Visioning Meeting; provide year-in-review presentation.

Oversight and development of proprietary Database, coordinate Db updates and reporting as needed.

Oversight of company contracts such as printers, security company, lease agreement, etc.

Funding, Events and Fundraisers:

Write grant requests and research for additional funding opportunities, maintain tracking; Develop and submit grant reporting as stipulated by grant providers.

Develop individual, foundation, corporate and organizational relationships within the community in pursuit of donation of services, event sponsorship, financial contributions, Sponsor-A-Child donor program and monthly recurrent donations.

Manage relationship with ‘Auction!’ Software company and oversight of all entry and use of system.

Track all raffle sales, obtain gaming commission permits and provide quarterly raffle sales/prize reporting.

Oversight and coordination of Spring Fundraiser and Annual Charity Auction and other events as needed; Obtain reseller permit.

Marketing:

Oversight and creation of website, mail chimp, and all social media verbiage .

Creation and distribution of Annual Report, Summer (June) and Winter (December) newsletters.

Write letters, articles, press releases, thank you letters, donor invoices, and payment authorizations as needed.

Develop and implement marketing strategies in concert with Board direction including but not limited to direct mail/letter campaigns, radio interviews, event mailers, and other media opportunities.

Program Management:

Provide oversight of Programs: One-Time Little Wishes, Little Wishes Enrichment, Loaner Instrument, and Drivers Education Scholarship, (3) Distribution Programs (Shoe Give, Winter Warm Up and Back to School Programs), Swim Program and Evan J Sobjack Memorial Fund, plus the Foster Closet.

Oversee relationships with service providers for the Little Wishes Enrichment program and One Time Little Wishes.

Support new service provider enrollment as needed and oversight of negotiated rates and written agreements. Ensure regular feedback from service providers on client’s attendance, progress, participation, etc. Oversight of program requirements including intake process, forms and needs basis guidelines.

Expand number of beneficiaries served as financials allow and Board directs.

Provide recommendations for new programs, and program modifications as needed.

Community and Partnerships:

Develop community relationships with other non-profit organizations; maintain cooperative relationships with school districts for referral of client base and onsite distributions.

Make presentations to community groups, employers, and other opportunities as needed.

Mange relationships with community partners.

Attend Chamber meetings (Bellingham & Ferndale), and participate in other associations and membership groups as is beneficial to Blue Skies.

Other Duties as needed

Skills and Abilities Required:

- A four-year degree is required, a Master’s degree is preferred.

- Leadership experience within a non-profit or for-profit organization.

- Entrepreneurial spirit, self-driven, organized, efficient, and productive.

- Excellent written and verbal skills. Prefer grant writing success.

- Ability to read, understand and explain financial reporting.

- Highly organized, self driven, and ability to follow through.

- Experience managing a small organization with an annual organizational budget over $415,000.

- General HR knowledge and experience with having direct reports.

- Strong ability and interest in conducting an annual auction gala with a very lean support system.

- Strength in ability to build community relationships, develop donor relationships.

- Exceptionally comfortable soliciting donations.
