Description We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for a Payroll Administrator in Yorktown, Virginia. In this role, you will be responsible for processing government payroll, preparing and filing tax forms, and managing payroll for a large number of employees. This role is within the municipality industry and requires specific skills in Payroll Tax, Payroll - In-House, and Payroll - Garnishments.Responsibilities include: Processing bi-weekly payroll for a large number of employees in a timely and accurate manner Preparing and filing 941's for taxes, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations Managing payroll for a diverse range of employees, including exempt, non-exempt, and those on 24-hour shifts Utilizing the Munis system for payroll processing, demonstrating proficiency and accuracy Handling payroll-related inquiries from employees and resolving any issues promptly and professionally Regularly monitoring payroll processes and implementing improvements as necessary Ensuring all payroll activities adhere to legal and company policies Managing payroll for both large and small groups of employees, demonstrating flexibility and organizational skills Assisting in other administrative tasks as required, demonstrating versatility and commitment to the role. Requirements Proven experience as a Payroll Administrator for at least 3 years. Proficient in payroll tax procedures and regulations. Demonstrated experience in managing in-house payroll systems. Expertise in handling payroll garnishments. Adept at using payroll software and MS Office tools. Strong understanding of local, state, and federal tax and labor laws. Excellent attention to detail and confidentiality. Outstanding organizational and time-management skills. Strong numerical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
