Under the supervision of a registered nurse, performs a variety of basic patient care activities. The OB Technician works as a skilled technician in the Women's Center department providing care, comfort, hygiene, data collection, and documentation. Performs duties to assist families in the child bearing process and postpartum care. Prepares the delivery room, organizes equipment, and assists the RN and OB provider as requested, Performs administrative/clerical duties such as greeting patients and visitors, answers and routes telephone calls, calls codes, pages and overhead announcements as requested, processes paperwork regarding patient admissions, transfers and discharges, assembles patient charts, makes photocopies, order supplies and food stock. Activities and duties are based on accepted standards of OB practice and are performed within the scope of education, training, and experience.Reports to: RN, Charge Nurse, or Unit DirectorRequired Skills
