Background: Must be able to pass a Background Screen and Drug Test (No Exceptions)

IMPORTANT:

Must have at least 5 years’ experience in STICK WELDING (NO EXCEPTIONS)

Must have at least 5 years’ experience in TIG WELDING (NO EXCEPTIONS)

All candidates will take a Welding Test during interview.

Testing will include:

a. 6 inch Schedule 40 Carbon Steel Stick Test

b. 2 inch Schedule 80 Carbon Steel TIG Test

The Pipe Welder will be working in a pipe crew at a chemical manufacturing site. The crew typically works 10-hour days Monday thru Thursday, but members must be available to work overtime on weekdays and weekends when required. The welders will be welding on piping systems, coded vessels, and other mechanical work. This candidate will be a member of a 6–8-man pipe crew and jobs are typically assigned to teams of two from the crew. The site is in a manufacturing facility in Front Royal, VA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs all duties in a safe working manner, following all of Axalta’s safety policies and procedures.

Climbing on and work from fixed and portable ladders while wearing safety harness.

Install mechanical equipment.

Maintain an open line of communication with other line workers and supervisors to alert them to potential hazards and assembling issues.

Must be able to perform work to quality standards.

Be capable of determining proper welding procedures for task.

Able to manage multiple priorities.

Knowledge of and experience working in chemical process operations preferred

Must perform work to quality standards.

Vessel code welding repair experience

Be willing to do other mechanical jobs other than pipe work. Will discuss at interview.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must pass 6G welding certification test on Carbon Steel and Stainless-Steel Piping.

Minimum 5-year Pipe and/or Vessel repair welding experience in an industrial setting.

Minimum 1 year Pipe fabrication experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Highschool Diploma/GED

Must pass drug screening!

Be able to fabricate and fit piping.

Ability to work in a team environment, self-manage and adapt quickly to changing demands, and operate safely and within site guidelines.

Knowledge of function-specific information systems.

Creative thinker and eager learner.

Be capable of forklift and JCB lift operation. (We will provide training when required).

Ability to read tape measurer and use power tools. Follow proper safety procedures and wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) in an industrial environment working around solvents and chemicals.

Must be able to determine proper material needed per task and procedure.

Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.

Be able to read and understand Piping and Instrument (P&I) drawings and isometric drawings.

Ability to weigh tasks and prioritize the job assembly schedule to ensure on schedule delivery of the product.

Ability to use mathematics that requires analysis.

Ability to follow instructions.

Basic knowledge of measurements.

Basic knowledge of piping components.

SITE REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to kneel, squat, bend, crawl, reach, and negotiate small spaces.

Ability to work in various climates, extreme temps, etc.

Be capable of working in confined spaces and working at heights when required. Respirator required.

Ability to work OT as needed. Be available to work weekends and holidays, day before and after as needed. Must be available for call in emergency shutdowns.

No contact lenses allowed on site.

Be capable of lifting to 50lbs.
