TEKsystems is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Personal Finance Specialist position in Winchester, VA!Job Description:

To provide productive, preventive, and remedial consumer credit counseling and debt management services for the membership.

Provides consumer credit counseling and administers debt management services for Credit Union Members.

Recovers loan payments that might otherwise have been lost due to members financial difficulties. This includes: interviewing member to accurately assess their financial situation and determining the level of counseling required (educational, preventive, or remedial); analyzing members’ debts; assisting members to develop personal budgets; determining members’ qualification for entry in the debt management program (DMP).

Assists members who face difficulty with credit bureau and security clearance issues.

Prepares requests, reviews checks sent to creditors and transfers payments to member’s loan accounts.

Sets up intersystem transfer for the repayment of debts.

Tracks member’s progress until financially stable and/or current with creditors.

Maintains detailed chronological records and statistics of interviews, correspondence, conversations, calculations and administrative contacts with or made on the behalf of members utilizing budgetary counseling or debt management services.

Makes interim revisions to creditor payment schedules to reflect unforeseen increases or decreases to member’s disposable income (e.g., medical expenses, car repairs) that may affect the member’s progress or financial situation.

Recommends extensions and/or relaxed payment terms for members with credit card accounts, completes payment reversals and submits closure for Lines Of Credit

Requirements:

Interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills that demonstrate the ability to convey information effectively

Effective telephone skills

Ability to apply basic mathematical formulae and work accurately with numbers

Tact, diplomacy and persuasiveness to deal with members and creditors on financial matters, often in difficult circumstances

Knowledge of credit and collection practices and procedures
