Senior Tax Accountant

Description We are seeking a Tax Staff - Public based in Virginia Beach, Virginia, United States. The role involves working on tax compliance activities for individuals and businesses, including tax planning, projections, and research. The role also includes managing client information requests and deliverables, ensuring accurate and timely filing of tax returns, and providing support on special tax projects and initiatives. Responsibilities: Oversee and perform tax compliance activities for individuals and businesses Prepare and review Federal and State income tax returns Conduct tax planning and projections Carry out tax research, resolution, and correspondence Manage client information requests and deliverables Ensure accurate, timely filing of federal, state, and local tax returns Maintain quality standards for all tax-related tasks Provide support on special tax projects and initiatives Collaborate with staff, clients, and management on tax-related matters Assist with Firm Initiatives as necessary Requirements Minimum of three years of experience in a public tax role Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Demonstrated understanding of accounting functions Experience with compliance, tax research and planning Knowledge of payroll taxes Familiarity with Ultratax CS software Experience in individual, corporate, franchise, partnership, multi-state, federal income tax, and sales tax returns Understanding of local tax, tax preparation, tax projections, tax planning strategies Ability to work efficiently during tax season and manage year-end tax duties Experience in tax reporting, specifically within the US Ability to handle complex tax situations.
