Title: (NEX LITTLE CREEK) - CUSTOMER SERVICE CLERK Location: United States-Virginia-Virginia Beach Job Number: 2400021D Job Summary: Performs the full range of customer service duties and is responsible for coordinating retail department customer service programs including special orders, price matching etc. Duties and Responsibilities: Takes special orders for merchandise not formally stocked at the Navy Exchange. Determines cost and shipping charges and customer deposits required. Coordinates the order with the appropriate procurement office. Advises customers of expected delivery date. May assist in locating NIS merchandise by contacting other area NEXs. Follows up with vendors distribution and or procurement personnel to ensure timely receipt special order merchandise. Keeps customers informed of order status delays back orders etc . Promptly advises customers upon receipt of merchandise and coordinates pickup delivery. Resolves customer complaints and provides information to customers on all types of NES retail policies and programs i.e. fine jewelry return policy, price match program, NEXCARD convenience care program . Handles merchandise refunds and exchanges. May make price adjustments within limits of established authority. Provides information regarding product warrantees as necessary. Handles layaway transactions. Operates a cash register and is responsible for a change fund. Maintains records relating to transactions handled. Prepares reports as required. May assist in training sales associates in customer relations skills. i.e. handling NIS situations, etc. May provide specialized sales assistance to customers. Carries out NEX policy of courtesy and customer service. Performs other related duties as assigned This position is represented by the American Federation of Government Employees Local 22 Qualifications: GENERAL EXPERIENCE 1 year responsible experience in clerical office or retail sales store work of any kind in which the applicant has demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily in the position to be filled. SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE Study completed in a college university or junior college above the high school level may be substituted on the basis of one-half academic year of study for 6 months of experience.
