Risk Program Manager (Security)

Overview To advise senior leadership and lead on-going risk strategy that supports and aligns with corporate and departmental strategic goals and initiatives, mitigates risk, and enhances operating procedures. Assist developing action plans for process improvements, managing resources, project management, and operations to achieve organizational, strategic, financial, and member service goals and objectives. Execute ad hoc and additional risk initiatives that promote operational efficiency and service excellence. Serve as subject matter expert to support, coach, and mentor junior level team members. May oversee team assignments such as risk reporting, risk assessments, controls testing, and issues management.Responsibilities

Lead risk team members in efficient execution of the risk management program within the department, identify areas of risk, evaluate effectiveness, present mitigation opportunities and business solutions, and ensure alignment with enterprise frameworks and with industry best practices

Responsible for development and leadership of comprehensive risk initiatives in line with the enterprise goals and regulatory expectations

Partner with business unit stakeholders to translate control deficiencies into action plans and provide recommendations to enhance governance practices

Proactive oversight of Security Standards impactful to Digital to ensure proper alignment to Digital Business Unit

Promote collaborative process improvement between Security and Digital with respect to early detection of potential security vulnerabilities

Develop and oversee project plans, teams, and roadmaps that outline preventative and corrective actions necessary to remediate control deficiencies, maximizing effectiveness, and mitigating future exposure

Challenge and influence Security to ensure assessments are strategically and operationally aligned to the Digital Business Unit

Leverage individual research, internal and external papers to drive process improvement

Responsible for risk reporting metrics enhancement to identify performance, risk trends, and best practices to cultivate a best-in-class emerging industry risk program

Serve as subject matter expert regarding risk, business functions, systems, policies and/or procedures as it relates to Security

Advise and assist in facilitating risk reporting with senior leadership and key risk stakeholders, drive meaningful conversation, identify outcomes and actions, and ensure follow-up for those actions with risk decision makers and performers

Collaborate by actively working across business lines, communicating knowledge and business processes to other business units

Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships across digital and security, facilitates timely communication and coordination of activities to streamline impactful security processes

Develop program enhancements to identify critical areas to monitor and escalate issues and findings to appropriate stakeholders and governance committees

Build and maintain relationships with team members, management, key stakeholders, and external contacts/vendors

Stay abreast of and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and guidelines

Mentor junior team members and oversee key responsibilities

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Experience leading risk and/or compliance related activities in financial services or other relevant industry

Advanced knowledge of operational and regulatory risks and controls, including risk management techniques, methodologies, and systems

Experience assimilating technical, complex financial, and economic data; proficient in data analysis, reporting, auditing, and operations research

Working knowledge of state and Federal laws, industry regulations, principles, and practices

Experience leading and/or supervising professional employees

Working knowledge of organizational change management principles and practices

Ability to develop conclusions and formulate course of action to include forecasting and cost-benefit analysis

Expert analytical/quantitative, reconciliation, and deductive reasoning skills

Effective skill in building strategic and execution-focused plans and alliances with stakeholders and leaders

Advanced skill in project management to include establishing and leading project teams; managing timelines/deadlines/resources; and ensuring successful project implementation

Advanced communication and presentation skills; ability to persuade and influence; communicate complex information in an easily understandable manner

Strong problem solving and decision-making skills and the ability to work independently

Advanced skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions

Advanced word processing and spreadsheet software skills

Advanced database and presentation software skills

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

Desired Qualifications

Experience with credit union financials and/or NCUA regulations

Advanced knowledge of Navy Federal's functions, philosophy, operations and organizational objectives

Master's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
