Overview To facilitate a sound capital markets strategy by managing Navy Federal's wholesale credit risk. Monitor and review the creditworthiness of Navy Federal's financial business partners, debt issuers, guarantors, and obligors. Assist in credit analyses, qualitative and quantitative analyses, and maintain financial models. Support credit decision-making regarding the creditworthiness of external institutions and entities. Participate in reviews of increasing complexity, under moderate supervision with some latitude for independent judgement. Moderately skilled professional with basic proficiency in discipline. Ensure compliance with applicable industry, federal, and internal regulations and policies, and Navy Federal best interests are safeguarded.Responsibilities

Conduct routine research and analysis to identify, assess, and make recommendation about wholesale credit and counterparty risk and viability of debt issuers, guarantors, obligors, and/or vendors including research on companies/issuers, sector, and industry

Evaluate changes in financial, economic, regulatory, legislative, and competitive environment to determine impact on creditworthiness of debt issuers, guarantors, obligors, counterparties and/or vendors

Analyze annual reports and financial statements, monitor key financial metrics, industry trends, company performance, and evaluate external factors that could impact revenue, cash flow and credit profile of debt issuers, guarantors, obligors, and/or vendors.

Assist in developing fundamental credit opinions for obligors, make changes to ratings and outlooks, and provide justification for analytical results and changes

Assist in pre-purchase credit evaluations for new names and make pre-purchase credit evaluations for existing names

Maintain financial models, training documentation, historical files, and internal procedures

Contribute to a culture of collaboration by actively working across business lines, communicating knowledge and business processes having basic to moderate impact

Stay abreast of and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and industry laws, regulations, and guidelines

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Working knowledge of financial and credit markets, fundamental credit analysis, evaluating creditworthiness, and accounting principles

Familiarity with financial fundamental analysis and modeling of structured products and macroeconomic analysis

Exposure to one or more of the following areas: credit risk, financial and capital markets, and/or risk management

Familiarity with factors driving performance of the industry

Experience in working with diverse internal and external contacts

Familiarity with industry and federal regulatory requirements and best practices

Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Basic skill analyzing statistics and reports to determine business performance and trends

Effective skill maintaining accuracy with attention to detail and meeting deadlines

Basic skill building relationships through rapport, trust, diplomacy, and tact

Basic skill exercising initiative and using good judgment to make sound decisions

Basic research, analytical, problem-solving, and spreadsheet skills

Basic verbal and written communication skills; to include credit analysis reports

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of training, education and experience

Desired Qualifications

Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field, or the equivalent combination of experience, education and training

Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation or candidacy

Experience working in a capital markets environment preferably with fixed income instruments

Working knowledge of Bloomberg, Trepp, and/or Intex

Bloomberg API or MS Excel advanced modeling skills
