Join our mission today.Systems Engineer II - Trainer Programs / Clearance Required (Onsite)Collins Aerospace is on the lookout for a talented Sr. Systems Engineer to join our Sterling, VA team within the Simulation and Training Solutions (STS) business area. STS develops and builds highly realistic simulators and training systems for military and commercial customers. We utilize cutting-edge technology to deliver highly specialized training for some of the most demanding jobs in aviation. Devices range in complexity from desktop training all the way up to high-fidelity weapon systems and full flight training systems, including full visual motion and simulator interoperability.In this position, you will assist in designing, integrating, and testing of multi-platform training device software and hardware features. You will work in a fast-paced, modern, agile development environment and collaborate closely with software and hardware teams to build advanced mission capabilities and features.This position requires a US Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance and the ability to maintain SAP access. This position is onsite in Sterling, Virgina and most of the job functions are performed inside of a closed area. Eligible for relocation assistance.What YOU will do:
Derive and decompose requirements for complex software and hardware features.
Create designs within Cameo for hardware and software components.
Define operational concepts and support working groups with customers.
Contribute to agile planning meetings and help define acceptance criteria for features based on customer requirements.
Assist in verification and validation efforts.
Work to achieve program objectives which have a moderate impact to the product.
Work autonomously with some oversight.
Communicate within a diverse multi-functional agile team environment to solve complex challenges.
Influence decisions within your team and promote modular and efficient systems designs.
May be asked to provide estimates for own efforts.
Cultivate a culture of ownership, accountability, innovation, and technical excellence.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and a minimum 2 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 5 years of relevant experience.
Active and transferable U.S. DoD Secret security clearance or higher is required prior to start date.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Skills you must have:
Experience using requirements management tools (Doors, Jama, etc.)
Experience decomposing customer requirements into a lower level.
Qualifications We Prefer:
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
Familiarity with Cameo modeling tool and MBSE.
Familiarity with avionics systems, interfaces, and standards (ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, etc.)
Candidate has academic knowledge of systems design methodologies, tools, and documentation practices.

The salary range for this role is 70,000 USD - 142,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
