Virginia, Roanoke, 24019 Roanoke USA
Aplica ya

DEFINITION AND PURPOSE: Renovation Alliance is a nonprofit organization that works to ensure every person, regardless of income, can live in a warm, safe, dry, accessible, and healthy home. The organization engages volunteers and skilled professionals to complete critical and necessary home repairs for low-income homeowners - all at no cost to the homeowner. These services are provided to low-income homeowners residing in the Roanoke Valley with a special focus on older adults, persons with disabilities, veterans and surviving partners, and single-parent households with young children. The Construction & Volunteer Supervisor is a newly created position within the organization and will work directly with Renovation Alliance's construction staff to fulfill the organization's mission.

Essential duties include managing and growing Renovation Alliance’s volunteer program and working with the Director of Construction to complete home reviews and manage projects within its limited home rehabilitation program.

As a Construction & Volunteer Supervisor with Renovation Alliance, the incumbent will gain experience in home repair best practices, and volunteer program development and implementation in a nonprofit setting.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES: The incumbent is responsible for:

Understanding the role volunteerism plays in Renovation Alliance’s mission and programs as well as its benefits to the larger community.

Developing strong relationships with Renovation Alliance volunteers.

Develop a volunteer program to improve volunteer experience and retainment

Outreach to new individual volunteers and volunteer groups

Plan and coordinate volunteer events and projects

Coordinate volunteer projects and other events with RA Ops Committee & RA Repair Crew

Implementing safe worksite practices by providing volunteer worksite safety training and safety checks throughout the volunteer project.

Preparing volunteer project sites by pre-ordering materials and site rentals for the project, completing site preparation work, and delivering project materials to the project site (as needed).

Project management to include conducting initial home reviews, preparing work write-ups and material lists, scheduling contractors, and completing final inspections.

Working directly with homeowners to hear their concerns and preferences. Renovation Alliance prioritizes client self-determination, meaning the needs and preferences of the homeowner should be prioritized to the extent possible when determining the repairs to be completed.

Communicating and coordinating with the Director of Construction throughout the home repair and rehabilitation process.

Completing light repair and renovation work as necessary, based on project needs and individual skills.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND LICENSES

Valid Virginia driver's license

Ability to use Renovation Alliance’s project tracking database and other computer-based data tracking and communication applications as required

Ability to manage competing tasks and due dates

Self-starter. Being a small organization, the ability to take initiative and independently determine what projects/tasks need to be prioritized is important.

Excellent communication & leadership skills. To volunteers in our community, this position will be the face of Renovation Alliance. Ensuring that volunteers have a positive experience while working on projects through detailed communication and on-site leadership will be a focus of this position.

Demonstrates empathy and patience in their approach to client services.

Effective teacher. This role will require teaching volunteers with little home repair experience how to use power tools safely and other aspects of residential construction.

Construction Knowledge. Prior construction experience preferred, but not required, for this position. If no prior construction experience, candidate must be interested in developing construction skills.

Certification in OSHA courses: First Aid, 10-Hour Construction Training. If no prior certification, RA can help.

WORKING CONDITIONS: This position requires work to be completed in an office setting as well as out in the field. Virtual or work-from-home opportunities are also available as appropriate and as desired by the incumbent. Travel across Renovation Alliance’s full-service area is required.
