Vibrant, growing downtown restaurant seeks a motivated, ambitious chef de cuisine to manage kitchen operations, lead team of cooks and execute service.

Who we are: An independent, chef-owned and driven, ascending restaurant. We cook casual, approachable food using quality, hyper-local ingredients. We live to cook and create experiences for our guests. We love our regulars and know them by name. We collaborate with our peer restaurants quite a bit, and aim to contribute to the growth of Roanoke hospitality however we can. We take what we do extremely seriously, but we don't take ourselves too seriously. Our brunch is incredible. We believe cooking is love, and we love what we do. By this description, it may be painfully obvious who we are but we'd like to keep this search for the right person to join us as low key as we can.

Job qualifications:

- You meet the above description.

- Ideally you have at least one year of leadership experience in a high volume kitchen.

Job duties (40-45 hours a week):

- Execute/lead 3-4 evening dinner services and 1 brunch service per week, including cooking on the line.

- Work with owners and leadership team to establish and maintain always improving organization, health, cleanliness and safety standards in the kitchen.

- Create, maintain, and update standard operating procedures in the kitchen including but not limited to maintaining and updating recipe binders, teaching and guiding line cooks on proper techniques and maintaining standard of excellence in execution of dishes, developing and ensuring compliance with kitchen cleaning procedures.

- Be the primary contact person for communication with kitchen team.

- Be involved in menu development, changes and execution with the leadership team.

- Attend and contribute to weekly meeting with leadership team to create and maintain the restaurant's standard of excellence.
